Introduction

Styllar is a project 13 years in the making, originally conceptualized to serve an entirely different purpose than it is right now. The design agency behind Styllar is based in Montreal, Canada, and is named Monolith® Agency. The agency is composed of talented artists, designers, web developers, and project managers. Initially, the goal of Styllar was to create a high-quality avatar builder. It was conceived and designed as a powerful and fun tool to represent real people in the digital world in the most effective and stylish way possible. Users could equip their avatar with the desired traits and clothing and download it as a profile image for social platforms.

At the time, Styllar was looking for funding to complete its builder and it had been featured in Dragons’ Den (Canada), a popular TV show where people pitch their business ideas in hopes of receiving funding from wealthy investors. The show was a success and Styllar received offers from 2 of the dragons. Later on, the Styllar team decided to turn down the offers and fund the project by themselves to keep better control of the long-term direction of the project.

After a long hiatus, the Styllar team is back

Monolith Agency — Canada

Monolith is a creative and multidisciplinary agency based in Montreal combining digital marketing, social media, branding, graphic design, and web technologies since 2011. We are made up of various talents mastering several disciplines that unite in total synergy to offer tailor-made, turnkey solutions to our customers. The name Monolith originates from the mysterious black monolith that appears in the cult science fiction film “2001: A Space Odyssey” directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrick in 1968. Like the extraterrestrial monolith introducing a higher level of consciousness which has allowed the human species to evolve and explore the universe, our goal, although more modest, is in the same line. Through our digital strategies and design prowess, we continually seek to promote social economy businesses, innovative brands, and eco-responsible products to encourage consumers to make an informed choice of sustainable products and services. The ultimate goal of our approach is to demonstrate that the power of advertising and information technology can be used wisely for the common good.

Webisoft Technologies — Canada

Webisoft is a full-service Web and mobile development company based in Montreal. With over 15+ highly experienced developers, Webisoft has made a name for itself in the past few years building a large number of web applications, automation, and API projects. Plus, Webisoft’s blockchain arm builds smart contracts and DApp. Webisoft’s expertise in the field of web development was the final missing piece of the project, essential to the project’s success and delivery.

LearnTerra.io — Canada

If you’re familiar with the Terra ecosystem, you might have heard or come across the very popular website Learn Terra. Trinitosss is the person behind this pillar of the community, teaching the Terra ecosystem for over 6 months. Styllar is heavily influenced by Learn Terra’s objectives to benefit the community in every step. It is important to mention that Learn Terra is officially partnered with Styllar NFT. Learn Terra is also playing a key role in linking Styllars to various projects on the Terra blockchain. Don’t be surprised when you head to learnterra.io and get offered the chance to win some Styllar NFTs by completing key tasks on the Learn Terra website. Styllar is made by community members for community members.

The Styllar Video

Members of our community have already investigated Styllars’ past and found an interesting video featuring Monolith’s CEO Guillaume Germain (@AHOODIE) explaining what Styllar was all about at the time in 2013. We welcome this initiative, as it’s an interesting part of our history.

Monolith eventually had to stop working on Styllar due to increasing demand on other projects (branding, web development, and advertising campaigns). At this point, Styllar was on recess, but Guillaume always planned to revisit the project when the timing was right.

Styllar’s Vision

With the increasing popularity of NFTs, we saw a unique opportunity to readapt Styllar for a modern-day approach. We decided to bring Styllar to the blockchain and add several new features to the project. With the idea of making a premium NFT relating to fashion and pop culture, Styllar NFT was born.

In our journey of engendering the project, we decided to take an innovative approach that would become possible thanks to a new technology connecting every blockchain (Cosmos). With the endless possibilities of cross-chain NFTs, we decided to make Styllar a dual-mint with Terra and Ethereum.

This feature will allow the creation of complex interactions between different Styllar’s collections. As a #lunatic, you might be familiar with the term terra-verse. Styllar is aiming for a truly innovative approach, and this particular path will be highlighted in our upcoming roadmap.

In terms of interactions for our first collection, you’re undoubtedly going to be amazing at what we’re cooking up. There will be several features to be announced in due time.

Styllar wants to establish itself as a premium NFT collection giving its owners access to highly detailed and carefully designed artwork along with multiple perks and possibilities.

Terra Collection

Consisting of 11 total categories with 160+ unique traits, our avatars are randomly generated when minted with a few minor exceptions hidden in the collection. The ‘’minor exceptions’’ include about 20 extremely rare NFT relics that you will have a chance to mint and possess.

Like any collectibles, we wanted rarity, exclusivity & variation in our avatars, while maintaining a ‘fair’’ aspect specific to obtaining ownership. We looked at the idea of recreating the feeling we had when we were children buying & trading playing cards. Whether they were sports cards, Pokemon cards, Magic cards, etc. we were infatuated with the idea of the purchase being completely undisclosed, and some being extremely rare in comparison to others.

What’s happening right now?

At the moment (October 10th, 2021), we’re currently in the middle of a couple of events to get some of the community members a whitelist spot.

Presently, our top 1000 active users in Discord (based on XP) will receive the chance of being community whitelisted to guarantee the mint of a Styllar before everyone else. The snapshot has not been taken and we won’t disclose the date we’re going to take the snapshot just yet.

We also announced a community event in which you guys threw us a lot of suggestions. Our staff handpicked the top 5 most popular suggestions. It is now time for you to vote on the best suggestion that our artist @AH00DIE will make from scratch while live-streaming himself on Discord.

We also planned an AMA next week to engage with the community and answer any questions you guys might have. As a Styllar fan, you will have the opportunity to ask anything about the project. We expect a lot of alphas to be thrown at you guys around this time (but we won’t say everything…have to keep some spicy details for future announcements).

Stay tuned for more announcements on what’s coming!
